Pierre Bourreau

Another first for the blog - a depiction of the "Aux Armes et Caetera"-era reggae Serge from French, Canada-based illustrator Pierre Bourreau. Pierre says " I can't even begin to tell you how awesome I think this idea is. I've grown up on Gainsbourg (I was born in France) and he was a seminal part of my youth as my father would blast his tunes (up to volume 11!) every week-end. I'm also blown away at the quality of work & talent of the illustrators you've chosen." Merci, Pierre. Pierre has a website and a Flickr stream.

Matt Jones

A beautiful Serge et Bardot illustration from Matt Jones. I'm sure the majority of visitors to this site will be aware of Matt's work but if not you should visit his blog (full of inspirational work), then his portfolio site and finally hop over to his Ronald Searle tribute blog (THE greatest living cartoonist. Imagine a Searle Gainsbourg!!). Matt is a storyboard artist and has just finished work on a film at Aardman Animation in Bristol and is about to head to Pixar in San Francisco.

Bonus Hanco Kolk & a Gainsbourg soiree.

Fellow Gainsbourg obsessive Guuzbourg sent me these beautiful illustrations that previous Draw Serge contributor Hanco Kolk did for an article written by Guuzbourg for Dutch magazine Vara Gids. Guuzbourg has also arranged a Gainsbourg party in Amsterdam on March 17th (the day before the movie is released in the Netherlands). I wish I could attend!
